Why these sites exist at all
A sweepstakes casino is not a licensed gambling operator. It runs on promotional law, the same body of rules that governs a soft drink bottle cap competition, and the legal requirement at the heart of that law is that nobody can be made to pay in order to enter. That single requirement shapes every design decision you will see.
Because entry has to be free, the casino cannot sell you a chance to win. What it sells instead is Gold Coins, an entertainment currency with no cash value whatsoever, and it gives away the promotional currency alongside them as a bonus. That bonus is the part that can be redeemed.
The gold balance
Gold Coins arrive in enormous quantities because they are cheap to issue and exist purely to keep the games running. You can play every title in the lobby with them, win more of them, lose them all and ask for more. What you cannot do, under any circumstance at any brand, is convert them into money. When an advertisement leads with a number in the hundreds of thousands, that number is gold.
The promotional balance
The second currency is usually called Sweeps Coins and it is the product. It arrives bundled with coin purchases, dropped daily into active accounts, and posted free to anyone who writes in. Once it has been staked the required number of times it can be redeemed for cash, gift cards or prizes depending on the brand.
This is why our tables lead with the redeemable figure. A package advertised as 250,000 GC plus 25 SC is a 25 SC offer. The rest is decoration.
Play-through, in plain terms
Promotional coins arrive locked. To unlock them you stake them, and the play-through multiple sets how much staking is required. One-times on a 50 SC balance means 50 SC staked in total, counted by stakes rather than outcomes, so wins and losses simply move you around the board on the way to the target.
Two-times doubles the journey and hands the house edge twice as many opportunities. It is the single most reliable predictor of whether a balance survives to the cashier.
Redemption
When the balance is unlocked and above the brand floor, you file a redemption. The first one triggers identity verification, which means a photo identity document and a proof of address, and that adds a day or two once. After that the clock is just the cashier.
Our payout column measures a verified, filed request through to money landing. We time it three times per brand and publish the middle figure.

The ranking puts the redeemable figure, the floor and the play-through next to each other so nothing hides.
